New Video for “Discovering The Waterfront”; Juno Awards Nomination

Silverstein are renowned for their fierce work ethic and iron-clad touring schedule – in the first half of 2006 they are the only band to be booked on three critically acclaimed tours, Take Action! Tour, Taste of Chaos and Warped Tour. Take Action! Tour is a perfect pairing for the band, with rock music and a strong message against teenage suicide given equal focus. Drummer Paul Koehler joined speakers including Congressman Patrick Kennedy and Grace Napolitano in speaking out in favor of government funding for the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, the Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act and to raise awareness of mental health issues. Previous artists to rock the tour include Thursday, Thrice, Alkaline Trio and Avenged Sevenfold, this year Silverstein perform with Matchbook Romance and The Early November among others. When Take Action! Tour comes to a close Silverstein will rock Taste Of Chaos in Canada before returning to Europe for a headlining tour. Summer finds them on Warped Tour 2006.

After playing in support on the Simple Plan European tour in January, Silverstein arrived back in their beloved Canada to find that they had been nominated for a Juno Award, much coveted as their country’s equivalent of a Grammy. They compete against acts like Boys Night Out and Bedouin Soundclash in the category Best New Group Of The Year. This news came on the eve of their two sold out shows at Toronto’s Mod Club, where of screaming fans showed the band a raucous welcome home. Silverstein’s latest video, for the title track to their tremendously successful “Discovering The Waterfront” just premiered on MTVU, and is now streaming on Yahoo! Music at http://music.yahoo.com/ar-303779-videos--Silverstein. Directed by Ben Weinstein (Weakerthans) the video is a perception bending exercise with striking visuals. Sales of the album stand at an impressive 150,648 since its release in August 2005. Guitar World joined in the praise at release, giving “Discovering The Waterfront” 3 ½ stars.
