Kravitz lined up for Hendrix biopic The life and death of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix is set to be portrayed by rock star Lenny Kravitz in a film biopic of the iconic rock star's life. Hendrix first made his name in the UK after US audiences struggled to accept his outlandish and controversial style. The 'Purple Haze' singer enjoyed incredible success, however his immense talent was curtailed in 1970 when he died following a drugs overdose aged only 24. The grandson of a pure Cherokee Indian, Hendrix was once quoted as saying: "People still mourn when people die. That's self-sympathy. The person who has died ain't crying. "When I die I want people to play my music, go wild and freak out an' do anything they want to do." Music impresario Elle Von Lear has acquired the exclusive rights to Hendrix's name, likeness and performances and the first thing she intends to do is a controversial biopic. Von Lear revealed: "Our goal is to do a proper major feature film that finally tells the real shocking story of Jimi's life and death. Now I can do what he intended for his legacy and I plan to start by making a The Doors-type film about Jimi's life." http://musicnews.virgin.net/Virgin/L..._music,00.html |
