Headlights Tour In Support of Kill Them With Kindness

Headlights Tour In Support of Kill Them With Kindness
The hardest working band in indie rock is back. Following a 72 date spring tour Headlights took the summer off to recoup and rehearse. They are gearing up to hit the road in support of their critically acclaimed debut album Kill Them With Kindness, which comes out via Polyvinyl this Tuesday August 22nd.

The band kicks off their 50+ date fall tour this Wednesday in Dekalb, IL and wraps things up in late November at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. The band will be joined by labelmates Decibully for the first 25 shows. The two bands will pair up and head west. Sharing members and due to rising gas prices they will all pile into one van together. From there Headlights will head east, including a stop at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon.

After their massive fall tour is over, Headlights will spend the winter recording songs for a split EP with Suicide Squeeze band Metal Hearts. The split EP will be released on Polyvinyl in the spring of 2007. After recording, Headlights will tour Europe, which will be followed by a spring tour with Metal Hearts in support of their split release.

Praise for Kill Them With Kindness

Though the Illinois natives share the shambling, otherworldly energy of bands on the Canadian label Arts & Crafts (Stars, Broken Social Scene), the similarity is more spiritual than sonic. Whenever Headlights' sweet swirl sounds like it might falter and spin off course, they always swerve back, shining even more brightly. -SPIN

A quartet of strings opens "Your Old Street" like a white tunnel to heaven evolving into a summery twee ditty. "Songy Darko" finds Erin Fein going it alone in a quirky piano-driven pop song… "Hi-Ya!" is the perfect mesh of New Wave and French Nuevo with synthetic accordions and pounding organs twirling like a tornado. "Lullabies" is like listening to a lounge pop circus with some wonderful space rock guitars revisited at the end... Headlights are a band to watch on the indie rock radar. -Under The Radar

Combine the strength in gender equity with the band’s flare for orchestral symphony and Kill Them With Kindness becomes likely the best indie release to come out of the Prairie State since Sufjan Stevens epic journey down Route 1. -Absolute Punk.net

Headlights cross-breeds bubbly boy-girl vocals akin to those of Mates of State, a touch of Bettie Serveert jangle with the fleshed-out synths and slick synth production of Stars. -Aversion.com

Textured, layered, blissed-out pop/rock, but instead of glossing over the detailed emotions of the songs this dreamy atmosphere heightens them. A very impressive, enjoyable album. -Big Takeover
