Today, popular and influential 90s "alternative rock" act Smashing Pumpkins set a July 7th, 2007 release date for their upcoming record, Zeitgeist. Curiously, the date, while spelling out 7.07.07, falls on a Saturday.The record will be their first new album since 2000. To date, only Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin are confirmed for the project.The slow trickle information began more than a year ago when frontman and primary songwriter/musician Billy Corgan announced the reunion.
