Consider the Meek talks about 228 Festival, Strike Anywhere, Muse

Kev Lee of Consider The Meek recently posted about the controversy surrounding the 228 Festival. The event is a celebration of the Taiwanese democracy as well as a remembrance for the hundreds of Taiwanese people massacred on February 28th, 1947.The event has drawn controversy because as a celebration of independence, it's likely to incur some wrath from China who believe Taiwan to be a part of the country and have aimed 800 missiles at the small island.Kev explains:
There have been someopposition from a very concentrated minority who have accused the 228festival of being more harm than good. These people have claimed that theissue of Taiwan independence surrounding the festival, and the publicdisplay of being "Taiwanese" may lead to more conflict with China. However, they have not considered the postive international reaction from thisfestival. International acts like Muse, Strike Anywhere and Akiakane come torock out on an island of 23 million people who are constantly under threat, ignored, exploited and isolated. Whether you agree with "saying yes toTaiwan" or not, the 228 festival has become a demonstration of peace andsolidarity between peoples, which also includes people from China.
Muse, Strike Anywhere, Consider the Meek and many other acts will be performing at the festival. The show takes place tonight in Taiwan.
