After playing an astonishing 161 shows in 2006, Headlights are hard at work trying to repeat last year’s performance. The band is putting the finishing touches on a European tour that has included shows with The Album Leaf, Ratatat, and The Ponys. From there they will head stateside to team up with Page France for a full US tour. The band will be at this year’s SXSW too.
To top it all off the band will be releasing a limited edition EP titled Keep Your Friends and Loves Close. Keep The City You Call Home Closer. Keep Your is a collection of recordings from their live performances on Indie 103.1, WOXY, and Daytrotter. It features songs from their debut EP The Enemies EP, their debut full length Kill Them With Kindness, as well as the new song “This One”.
After the tour the band will head back home to write and record their follow up to 2005’s Kill Them With Kindness. The new album is tentatively slated to see release via Polyvinyl Record Co. in the winter of 2008.

Though the Illinois natives share the shambling, otherworldly energy of bands on the Canadian label Arts & Crafts (Stars, Broken Social Scene), the similarity is more spiritual than sonic. Whenever Headlights' sweet swirl sounds like it might falter and spin off course, they always swerve back, shining even more brightly. –SPIN
A quartet of strings opens "Your Old Street" like a white tunnel to heaven evolving into a summery twee ditty. "Songy Darko" finds Erin Fein going it alone in a quirky piano-driven pop song… "Hi-Ya!" is the perfect mesh of New Wave and French Nuevo with synthetic accordions and pounding organs twirling like a tornado. "Lullabies" is like listening to a lounge pop circus with some wonderful space rock guitars revisited at the end... Headlights are a band to watch on the indie rock radar. -Under The Radar
