Major Labels Endear Themselves Further to Fans, Record Stores

 

In an effort to bolster sales of Amy Winehouses 2003 debut, Frank – which is to be released Stateside for the first time on November 7th – Universal Republic is bullying retailers into removing the import version of the LP from their shelves. The label sent cease-and-desist letters on July 24th threatening to take wholesalers and record shops to court and is claiming that its “exclusive right to distribute [Winehouses] recordings in the States” is being infringed upon, which makes us wonder about all those import versions of various albums you can get on Amazon and Virgin Megastore. But go for it, guys.
