Radiohead?s Jonny Greenwood Brings Orchestral Work to New York

While Radiohead continue to toil on the long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s Hail to the Thief, the band’s lead guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood will see an orchestral piece he wrote in 2004 come to life in the U.S. for the first time. Greenwood penned Popcorn Superhet Receiver when he was the BBC Concert Orchestras Composer in Residence. The work, which was first performed in England in April 2005, will make its U.S. orchestral debut at New Yorks St. Paul the Apostle on January 16-17 as part of the Wordless Music Series via a thirty-four-piece string orchestra. Radiohead have adapted an orchestral piece by Greenwood for the band in the past (”Arpeggi”), so perhaps the audience will be hearing a potential album track.
