Since 1979, Weekly World News – the hilarious satirical publication billed as “the worlds only reliable newspaper” – has given both uptight fact-checkers and news junkies migraines with their ridiculous, made-up news stories. But after twenty-eight years, the paper will join its alien friends in the sky when it publishes its last issue at the end of the month. In its history, the rag has long skewered politicians (“12 U.S. Senators Are Space Aliens!”) and made up its own characters (“Bat Child Found In Cave”). But WWN has also lovingly slandered musicians both dead and alive. Below are a few of our favorites. To pay tribute, take a crack at making up some music-related headlines of your own.“Elvis Is Alive – And Living In Kalamazoo”
“Dead Rock Stars Return on Ghost Plane”
“Farmer Says – Elvis Is Haunting My Cows”
“New Discovery Proves – Cavemen Invented Rock Music”
“John Lennons Parrot Cuts New Beatles Record”
