You and AP.net--Your Thoughts (pt. 2)

Last week, you guys told us about all of the great memories that you've made through this website. This week's discussion is going to be similar, as we are wondering what sort of relationships you've made, if any through Absolutepunk.net's online community.

Recently, Buddy Nielsen from Senses Fail and Ben Jorgenson from Armor For Sleep both made news as a direct reflection of something that has happened on this site. As we like to point out, it would be smart not to casually insult a band in the news, as it is almost certain that they will see what you say. Regardless, the reach of this site is not just limited to the bands themselves. Many record labels employees and tour managers and others are constantly posting. Have you as a reader built any relationships with these people as a result of your membership to Absolutepunk.net? Perhaps you saw a news post describing an open position as an intern...did you apply for the job and get it?

Or you can go in the forums, which is a completely different story. Friends are made all of them time in there, both in the virtual and real world. The Classifieds Forum hosts a wealth of opportunities to meet people, whether it be joining a band or just talking to someone about buying their old t-shirts. The Absolutepunk.net community is a thriving one and we are interested in hearing your stories of how the virtual world has blended over into the real world. Got any good stories about friends being made on here? Have you met someone from the site at a show? Did a friendship that was nonexistent at school flourish because of your joint interest in music? Are you dating someone that you found on this site? (It has happened, believe it or not.) Now's your chance to brag.

But maybe you don't think that's worthy of bragging. "It's the Internet...I'm not going to talk to anyone on here outside of that!" What are your reasons for this sort of thinking and what do you think of the people that have created new friendships and networking connections?
