The Blackout Set to Unveil Debut Full-Length, Tour World Young Kerrang Faves Unleash Metalcore
Madness on Fierce Panda
THE BLACKOUT THE BEIJING COCKTAIL [SINGLE] RELEASE DATE: 09/25/2007
THE BLACKOUT WE ARE THE DYNAMITE! [LP] RELEASE DATE: 10/02/2007 THE BLACKOUT are six metallic troubadours from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. They consist of Sean Smith (vocals), Gavin Butler (vocals), James Davies (guitar), Matthew Davies (guitar), Rhys Lewis (bass) and Gareth Lawrence (drums).
The Beijing Cocktail is the first single to be taken from
We Are The Dynamite!,
THE BLACKOUT's debut full-length album due to explode a week after the single on October 1st.
THE BLACKOUT cruised onto the rock community’s radar a year ago with the fearsome statement of intent that was the cunningly titled six-track Fierce Panda mini-album
The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!. Yet they were scarcely naďve chancers back then: by the time Fierce Panda had picked up the A&R pace the band had played over 100 live shows; by the time they started working on
We Are The Dynamite! they had already shared stages with their fellow newcomer peers of 2006, Gallows and Enter Shikari, as well as Fightstar, Lostprophets, Eighteen Visions, The Used and Kids In Glass Houses.
It is faintly remarkable then that in spite of all that pedigree “The Beijing Cocktail” is only
THE BLACKOUT's second ever single, following last year's limited edition CD release “Hard Slammin.” Happily, as befits a band poised to rocket out of the rock underground “The Beijing Cocktail” comes armed with a variety of formats and b-sides, including the live favourites “Wild Nights & Fist Fights” and “Go Burn City Hall” and a couple of choice cover versions in Limp Bizkit's “My Generation” (recorded for Kerrang!) and Faith No More's “The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies.”
Even more happily
THE BLACKOUT's mothership release of
We Are The Dynamite! features quite probably another ten potential singles, blasted as it is by scalding metal riffs and thunderously addictive hooks. But for God's sake don't take our word for it - go shake those hips with THE BLACKOUT on their second headline tour of 2007.

The Blackout! The Blackout!], it's easy to see why The Blackout were nominated for best newcomers at the Kerrang! awards in 2006. Quite simply, it's a superb collection of intense, heartfelt rock."-
BBC “Armed with super-catchy scream anthems and infectious energy.” -
Kerrang Before you start thinking it's just another whiny 'i'm angry at the world' emo band, on listening to 'Hard Slammin’’ you'll realise that there's more to it than that. It can make anyone want to pump their fist in the air in unison with the ripped-straight-from-the-heart lyrics "we've come too far/you'll never take our souls alive". –
