- News of a killer Britney Spears single (that is thankfully not this number) is making the rounds. The track is called “Gimme More,” and is produced by Nate “Danjahandz” Hills (of Timbaland and Justin Timberlake fame). Sources tell EW “Gimme More” is an uptempo dance single that will introduce a “whole new sound” for Spears. However the pop star will be making her comeback without former manager Larry Rudolph, who split from Spears in April and is currently hiding to avoid being subpoenaed in her custody battle with ex Kevin Federline. Rudolph released a statement yesterday stating his “loyalty will always stay strong with Britney” but until he is found he is “trying to avoid being brought into this mess” and wishes Spears the best.
- The soundtrack for upcoming Joy Division biopic, Control, has been revealed. In addition to the previously announced re-release of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and the Killers‘ rendition of “Shadowplay,” the disc includes songs by the Velvet Underground and David Bowie. Full tracklist after the jump.
- Billboard reports Joss Stone, the Byrds‘ Roger McGuinn and Shawn Colvin are among the acts that will pay tribute to Elton John at an October 10th ceremony at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The event is being produced by Michael Dorf, the mastermind behind recent tributes to Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan.
- MySpace has announced their first nationwide concert tour, co-headlined by emo acts Hellogoodbye and Say Anything. The trek will begin October 16th in Seattle and conclude Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas, with complete dates being announced soon. MySpace members will have exclusive access to an allotment of presale tickets, as well as blogs, photos and more from the bands on tour.
- More property that once belonged to boy-band mogul Lou Pearlman is being auctioned off nearly three months after a slew of personal items were sold to the highest bidders. Recently sold items include a Cadillac Escalade golf cart ($10,340) and an Anakin Skywalker statue ($1,100). All money is going towards paying back the thousand or so investors who lost money when Pearlman disappeared in January.
