Welcome to Rock Daily’s column tracking rock on the big screen. Stay tuned so you don't miss the next Walk the Line, The Doors or, yes, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. - Justin Timberlake is teaming up with his Shrek the Third buddy Mike Myers for the comedy The Love Guru. Timberlake will play a professional hockey player named Jacques Grande and Myers portrays an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. The film costars Jessica Alba, “Mini-Me” Verne Troyer and presumably Timberlake’s best attempt at a French accent, and is scheduled to open on June 20, 2008.
- Dave Navarro is set to direct his first feature, if you can call a porno a “feature film.” The guitarist is working with Teravision, the production company run by porn superstar Tera Patrick and husband, for Broken. “I have always had an interest in filmmaking and the visual arts, so when Teravision approached me about directing a film, it felt like a natural partnership,” Navarro said about his directorial debut. We're sure it had nothing to do with sex or breasts or, you know, porn.
- Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise will premiere at the Montreal World Film Festival on August 30th. The documentary presents a candid glimpse into the dramatic rocker's life, both on and offstage. Directed by Bruce David Klein, Paradise follows the Loaf throughout his rehearsals, opening shows and eventually on the first leg of his Bat III worldwide tour. We’re taking bets on how many times he busts into “I'll Do Anything for Love.”
