On September 9th a new album featuring recent rock and pop performances from Saturday Night Live hits stores (according to Billboard, compilations focusing on hip-hop/R&B and pop, plus a DVD are also in the works). Live From SNL! Music Performances From Saturday Night Live — the first SNL album in nearly a decade — will only be available at Target stores and includes tracks from Foo Fighters, Avril Lavigne, the Strokes, Kelly Clarkson, Arctic Monkeys and more. While some folks know SNL for its more recent “Dick in a Box”-like moments, the show’s legendary stage has hosted a wide range of incredible musical talent over the years. Here’s a few of our favorite moments:
  • Paul Simon performs “Still Crazy After All These Years” while
    in 1975
  • SNL creator Lorne Michaels offers The Beatles $3,000 to reunite
  • Ashlee Simpson
when she gets busted for lip-synching in 2004
  • Fear
    during 1981’s Halloween episode
  • Elvis Costello’s 1977 appearance during which he begins to play “Less Than Zero,” changes his mind and
, “Radio, Radio,” a move that allegedly got him banned from the show until 1989
