The Big News: The fates finally gave
Kid Rock his number-one record with
Rock N Roll Jesus. The album debuted with sales of 172,000, bumping
Bruce Springsteen’s
Magic down a spot to number two with 133,000 sold — a 60 percent slip from week one to two.
Kanye West is
still hanging around the top ten (and is half a mil away from the double-platinum mark), while
50 Cent falls to number nineteen, and is still a few LPs shy of a million copies sold.
Debuts: LeAnn Rimes hit the chart at number four with 74,000 copies of
Family sold, Sara Evans came in at eight with her
Greatest Hits and Josh Groban rounded out the top ten with
Noel. Jennifer Lopez’s
Brave debuted at twelve with a fairly unimpressive 53,000, followed by
Alter Bridge and
Eric Clapton’s
Complete Clapton.
Puddle of Mudd came in at twenty-seven,
Rolling Stone’s Hot Band of 2007,
Band of Horses, gave Sub Pop an impressive number-thirty-five debut with
Cease to Begin, and recent
Breaking Artist Beirut hit the chart at 118 with
Flying Club Cup.
Last Week’s Chart Heroes: Rascal Flatts hangs on at number three with 96,000, and nearly 72,000 more people took home
Matchbox Twenty’s
Exile on Mainstream (we report ‘em, we don’t explain ‘em). Reba McEntire weathered a mere 15 percent drop to claim number seven,
Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em dropped from four to fifteen, and
High School Musical 2 is still clinging to top-ten status, landing at number nine after nine weeks on the chart.
