
- The Eagles have defeated Britney Spears and nabbed the top spot on the UK album charts for the first time. But Spears may still win in the States, as industry experts are predicting Britney could surpass first-week sales expectations for Blackout and sell between 325,000 and 350,000. As Rock Daily pointed out last week, this doesn’t bode well for the Eagles, as their album is available exclusively at Wal-Mart, and the chain doesn’t report numbers on exclusive releases.
- In a new interview, former AC/DC lead singer Dave Evans says jealousy over getting girls on the road played a role in his leaving the band. The real turning point, however, was when he approached their manager to find out where the money they were earning was going: “I learned very quickly that you don’t go beating up your manager.”
- Fans will be able to watch Bon Jovi perform Lost Highway in its entirety tomorrow, when the band’s film of the same name will hit more than 100 theaters for one night only. The show was taped July 30th in Chicago, and a full list of theaters screening it is available here.
- CMT is launching Can You Duet?, a reality-TV show designed to find the next great American duo, Ã* la Johnny Cash and June Carter, that will have contestants competing in pairs each week. Duet is set to air in the spring and is produced by the same team behind American Idol.
- In a radio interview last week with Atlanta’s Q100.5, Janet Jackson revealed her next album will hit stores before March of next year.
