- The video for “Tranquilize,” the Killers/Lou Reed collaboration from the former’s upcoming B-sides collection Sawdust, demonstrates what happens when a band records new music after listening to Reed’s Berlin quite often. Reed’s voice features prominently, at times drowning out Brandon Flowers, who sports a massive Brawny moustache and cavorts around a dark and dusty classroom with a mirror.
- According to a BBC DJ, Radiohead will host their first Webcast in five years on BBC 6Music this Friday to chat, play tunes and maybe play some of their own (new?) music. Over in the States, to mark tomorrow’s release of American Gangster, Jay-Z will commandeer Sirius Radio for this entire week, hosting the show “Jay-Z Nation” on the satellite radio provider’s Hip-Hop Nation channel.
- 50 Cent is reneging on his promise to quit the music industry if Curtis fell to Kanye West’s Graduation on the day of their Big Tuesday match-up. 50 cites a technicality for not going into retirement, saying Curtis “was the number one European album!” Saved by the Belarus.
- While Ozzy Osbourne blames illegal downloaders and Fargo police officers for diminishing his income and reputation, Alice Cooper places the blame on what he calls the reputation-killing TV show The Osbournes.
- Sheryl Crow will release her new album, Detours, on February 5th. Like Kelly Clarkson, Jewel and Jessica Simpson plan to do, Crow hunkered down in Nashville to record the record, which documents her struggle with breast cancer and her break-up with bicyclist Lance Armstrong.
