Following the band’s seventh full-length release (and first on the girls’ own label!), Bitchin’, The Donnas have just crossed the pond for a month of European dates. The tour kicked off in Manchester, England at Academy 3 last night. Initial reports indicate that it totally kicked ass.
This past Friday, The Donnas finished a two-month string of US dates at The Roxy in West Hollywood, CA. Audiences were treated to the usual Donnas fare—fist-pumping, in your face rock tunes, heightened even more by The Donnas newfound independence of owning their own label—Purple Feather Records (available through Red Eye Distribution). If you thought these four girls couldn’t have more ‘tude, you haven’t seen the new, fully independent Donnas.
After 14 years of critical acclaim, Brett Anderson (lead vocals), Allison Robertson (guitar), Maya Ford (bass), and Torry Castellano (drums) are not just established rockers, they are continuing to shatter the pieces of the “glass ceiling” they’ve been hammering away at since their start. The ladies’ brand new and very own Purple Feather Records released Bitchin’ on September 18th. Bitchin’ represents the label’s first release, as well as The Donnas return to independence since leaving Atlantic Records.
The European tour will offer audiences abroad the opportunity to take part in the stupid-boy-bashing, hot-boy-loving, in-your-faceness that The Donnas bring to live performances.
