Word has come in that Shook Ones, Sinking Ships and End of a Year have all left Revelation Records and are now free agents.

The bands were all locked to the label in an arguable signing spree that had taken place from December 2005 (an initial burst which brought Sinking Ships, Shook Ones and Down to Nothing to the fold) to this past February with Living Hell.

Another of those bands, Richmond, VA post-hardcore act Memorial, parted ways with the label this past September after signing in December 2006, releasing nothing in the interim.

Much praise has been made on the part of efforts by former label A&R Bob Shedd. George Kirsch of Blacklisted, who contributed a track to the label's 2005 compilation, Generations, had this to say in a recent blog posting: "It was great to work with [a man] who was really working to make [Revelation] a 'modern hardcore' label and in my opinion has done a great job." In an April 2006 interview, Shook Ones guitarist 'Funds' said, "He's got all his shit together. The man is the real deal, and he is responsible for everything good that [Revelation] is doing right now."

Shedd, no longer employed by the label for undisclosed reasons, currently has his own personal label, Collapse Records, distributed by Revelation's distro arm.

Shook Ones, Sinking Ships and End of a Year all released full-lengths on the label in 2006: Facetious Folly Feat, Disconnecting and Sincerely, respectively. Shook Ones will commence writing for their third full-length this winter. As of June, Sinking Ships was planning on self-releasing a new 7" (presumably in 2008) to follow up this year's Ten 7", which was released on Revelation. End of a Year is planning to release multiple, thematically consistent songs across several splits and singles records in 2008. Memorial will soon self-release their first full-length digitally on an optional donation basis, Radiohead-style.

Revelation recently released Capital's Homefront, while Living Hell will have their label debut, The Lost and the Damned, street on November 13.

Label owner Jordan Cooper participated in a recent interview discussing the label's 20-year history.
