1.Cursive set to release "Bad Sects" remix single
Cursive's "Bad Sects" remix is the result of a contest in which over 200 fans submitted remixes of the Happy Hollow track "Bad Sects." The single features the band's pick as the winner of the contest and will be available on 12" vinyl (with mp3 digital download code) and digitally on November 20. The 12" is now shipping from the online store! The tracks from the first five runners up in the contest are now available at Bad Sects Remix Contest as well as the Cursive downloads section on the Saddle Creek site. Also stay tuned for premiere info on the new video for the album version of the song.

Cursive - Bad Sects
Following the release of their 2006 opus Happy Hollow, Cursive launched a remix site which allowed users to register and download separated tracks for the album track "Bad Sects." Remixers submitted their rearranged visions and versions to Saddle Creek for the Bad Sects Remix Contest. Cursive listened to all the remixes, posted some of their favorites on the site and chose the winning remix.
"Bad Sects," the second single from Happy Hollow, is available digitally and as a 12" LP featuring the winning remix by A Crude Mechanical along with a strings remix done by a friend of the band, the album cut and instrumental. The five runner-up remixes are available for listening at Bad Sects Remix Contest.

The third proper full length from Two Gallants, simply titled Two Gallants, is out now. The set is the result of the second of two 2007 recording sessions, the first of which was released as The Scenery of Farewell CD/12"/Digital. Both titles are now available in the online store, and orders for the full length include a collectible card with a download code for the non-album track "Liza Jane."

Two Gallants - Two Gallants
Childhood friends since age five, Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel have sustained longevity that very few people, let alone band members, can claim. Merging intelligent lyrics that often integrate historical references and human experiences beyond their own familiarity, Two Gallants captivate listeners with their unique breed of folk, punk and blues.
As part of a pair of releases this year, the self-titled Two Gallants follows The Scenery of Farewell EP and marks the duo’s third full-length. Well known for their impassioned live sets and lengthy tour schedules, the recording may be the best translation of the duo's distinctive alchemy yet. Recorded at San Francisco's legendary Hyde Street studio and produced by Alex Newport, Two Gallants builds on the foundation laid by 2004's The Throes and 2006's What the Toll Tells. Stephens’s raw melodies and razor sharp vocals deliver haunting, dirgy poetics amidst Vogel’s synergistic drumming style and striking harmonies, further defining Two Gallants' sound.

The Good Life - Help Wanted Nights CD/LP
There's something to be said for throwing down all the money you've won and laying all your cards on the table, face up. It's a gutsy move that takes a bit of courage, a bit of crazy, a bit of worry and a staunch belief that the outcome will be well worth the risk. Musically, The Good Life lives in a moment of that complexity. Led by Cursive's Tim Kasher (vocals, guitar), the band–featuring Roger Lewis (drums), Ryan Fox (guitar, keys) and Stefanie Drootin (bass)–creates bold songs that are not afraid of the mixed up emotions they describe, sometimes in vicious, heart-battering detail. The characters that inhabit The Good Life songs live on the precipices of courageous, crazy, worrisome and determined, throwing down the hand they’re playing in each relationship they’re trying to save or hoping to begin.
Recorded to tape by A.J. Mogis in Omaha, NE, the songs on the band's fourth LP Help Wanted Nights were written to take place in the same small-town bar, and were initially meant as the soundtrack to a Kasher-penned screenplay. Unlike 2004 LP Album of the Year’s start-to-finish narratives, these songs describe moments of raw emotion more than chronicle a linear tale. When it came time to prepare the tunes for the studio, The Good Life kept songs close to their original incarnations, spending long sessions on open, uncluttered arrangements. Achingly beautiful and sharply astute, Help Wanted Nights details human nature in the most honest way possible, taking risks without regret.

Georgie James - Places
Who is Georgie James? Add the Y of multi-instrumentalist John Davis (drummer of D.C.'s defunct Q And Not U), the X of singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn, and their combined knack for evocative production, inventive songwriting, and multi-part harmonies, and you're almost there. Mix in the duo's passion for 60s & 70s pop music including The Kinks, Richard & Linda Thompson, The Jam, Simon & Garfunkel, and some Shake Some Action-era Flamin' Groovies, and you've got it. While Georgie James may at first seem like a strange amalgam, everything fits together perfectly on their Saddle Creek debut, Places.
Georgie James entered Arlington, VA's Silver Sonya Studio in late summer 2006 to record its debut full-length with the production help of Beauty Pill's Chad Clark & Aloha's T.J. Lipple. Places finds Davis switching duties between drums, bass and guitars, while Burhenn takes turns at the Wurlitzer and the piano to create memorable indie pop that is gorgeously glam, focusing on bright melodies and strong vocal harmonies.
