Wanted to let you guys know that Roger Waters of Pink Floyd has just signed on to the Wear Your Music campaign, donating his guitar strings to be made into the Relix Band bracelet and sold to benefit charities.
Relix magazine and AZU Studio teamed up last year to create the "Wear Your Music Campaign" (Wear Your Music)--taking the previously-played guitar strings of top musicians and turning them into bracelets, all sold to benefit charities close to the artists. Musicians such as John Mayer, The Shins, Elvis Costello, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend and Slash are all proud supporters of the cause.
Now in its second year, The Relix Band has raised more than $200,000 for charities across the board. The press release is copied below.

All Profits Go To Charity
New York, NY: Relix, the magazine for music, announced the "Wear Your Music" campaign--a new way for music lovers who wear their favorite bands on their sleeves--to now wear them on their wrists. Created by noted designer Hannah Garrison of Azu Studio and Relix President/Publisher Steve Bernstein, the Relix Band is a fashionable accessory created by previously played strings from top artists. The bracelets are available at Wear Your Music.
Participating artists also include The Allman Brothers Band, Slash, Anna Nalick, Ben Harper, Dickey Betts, Ani DiFranco, Les Claypool, Spearhead front man Michael Franti, Hot Tuna, Ziggy Marley, David Grisman, Keller Williams, moe., Béla Fleck, Umphrey's McGee, Slightly Stoopid, Little Feat and Baaba Maal. Additional artists will be announced in the near future.
All profits go to charities personally selected by the donating artists, or to the following music-related charities: voter-registration organization Headcount; Grateful Dead charity The Rex Foundation; SEVA, which works to reduce avoidable blindness; and Rock 'n' Wrap It Up, which delivers leftover backstage catering to people in need.
"I think this is a terrific idea and I'm more than happy to be a part of it," said Carlos Santana. "The charity component is very important to me--and this is a great way to repurpose something that might otherwise just be thrown away."
"When approached to donate my strings it was pretty easy to say yes," said Buddy Guy. "It's a perfect way to get additional use out of guitar strings that I've played and it's for some fantastic causes."
Garrison remembers how she began making guitar string bracelets, "I came up with the idea years ago as gifts for my musician friends and their families." The sentimental accessories struck a chord with Steve Bernstein, and the two became partners in the Wear Your Music charity campaign.
"To me, this is the perfect piece of memorabilia for the passionate music fan," says Bernstein. "What better way to get close to your favorite artists than to wear their strings."
Bernstein added, "This is an exciting initiative for Relix and it was extremely important to us and the artists that the profits from the sale of the bracelets go to charity."
