Mastery commence writing of sophomore album, announce new material with vocalist Toronto "instrumetal" thrash band Mastery have announced the departure of guitarist Jeff Dormar and drummer Kevin Joy. "Due to personal and musical differences it was in the best interest of the band to let guitarist Jeff and drummer Kevin Joy go their separate ways," says Mastery guitarist Markus Armellini. "We are currently working on material for our upcoming new album and have decided that the new material will have a vocalist. We have someone in mind and will make an announcement regarding new members shortly." Mastery's debut album, Lethal Legacy, was released through Corporate Punishment Records. The album drew critical acclaim from Metal Maniacs who proclaimed, "While Lethal Legacy pays homage to the classic thrash of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s with nods to Testament, Forbidden, Vio-lence and Metallica, it doesn’t sound as if the band are pinning for the glory days." Decibel Magazine has also been singing the praises of Mastery brand of "instrumental", as they gave the band a whopping 9/10 and called them, "Mastery of Puppets".
