Coachella '08 Details The lineup for the 2008 edition of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has been unveiled. As expected, The Verve and Portishead will make their return to the States for the first time since the late '90s as two of the headliners for the festival. The Verve will play Friday, April 25 along with Jack Johnson, The Raconteurs, The Breeders, Fatboy Slim and a rare Stateside performance from Madness. The Verve have been recording their first album since 1997's Urban Hymns. According to Billboard, the Raconteurs are expected to release their second album sometime in late spring or early summer. On Saturday, April 26, Portishead (who will release a new album this spring) will perform, as will German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk, Death Cab For Cutie, Rilo Kiley, Scars On Broadway (the new band from System Of A Down's Daron Malakian) and many more. Sunday, April 27 brings Roger Waters performing Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety. Love And Rockets will reform for Coachella, with the band's second performance since they broke up in 1999. My Morning Jacket, Spiritualized and a number of other acts are on the bill on Sunday. The Coachella festival will take place April 25-27 in Indio, CA. Additionally, some more details have been revealed on the Coachella bookers' New York-based festival this summer. Dubbed the All Points West Music & Arts Festival at Liberty State Park, it will be held August 8-10, the same weekend as the new Vineland Music Festival a few hours south in New Jersey. Paul Tollett, of concert promoter Goldenvoice Concerts, told the New Jersey Star-Ledger that the festival "will have its own personality. It's not going to be Coachella Jr." -FMQB |
