Generation V
The 80’s television series V depicted a world infiltrated by aliens disguised as humans, where the human-like shell could be torn away to expose the aliens’ reptilian form.
Today, the virtual world has allowed for people to recreate an image of themselves and has provided an unprecedented outlet for creativity and individuality. Instead, online social communities are saturated with conformist behavior as online users frequently list the same interests, use the same graphics, use the same lingo, etc. On the surface, most people appear indistinguishable – a generation hiding behind online avatars in much the same way as the aliens of V hid behind their human exteriors.
Dgenetics Musics releases the Generation V label compilation on 03/30/08, officially launching their first wave of output and establishing their brand as a beacon of personality and individualism in the Web 2.0 world of Generation V. The release is a collection of singles from the four members of the Dgenetics Musics family.

A label with a unique style and branding, a sound and vision one can identify with and a confidence in its roster’s creativity, it’s hardly surprising the press have been quick to compare the new Dgenetics Musics label with other taste making groundbreakers such as Kitsune, Modular, Dim Mak and the Ed Bangers.
Rather than strictly trailblazing new electronic, computer plug-in driven sounds with both eyes focused on the future, the Dgenetics crew keeps their third eye steeped in music’s history, employing an encyclopedic diversity of influences in their work.
Dylan, Bjork, Bowie, Can, Captain Beefheart, Chopin, Discord, Faust, Genesis, George Harrison, Giorgio Moroder, Johnny Cash, Motown, Patrice Rushen, Pretty Tony, Quincy Jones, Rachmaninov, Thelonious Monk, and Wu-Tang, for a start.
The young label is a tight knit family of four artist/producers, led by founder and executive producer Dgenetics.

Pumpkin Patch
Hailing from DC, Pumpkin Patch is not just a buzz worthy DJ, but also a legitimate composer and a strong force behind the Dgenetics machine. As a student in Indiana University’s Audio Engineering program, he soon became notorious for throwing the hottest dance parties on campus. Having recently graduated into the Real World, “the Patch” has quickly garnered international acclaim with features in URB Magazine, Pimp Magazine and Fact Magazine in London. As an artist on the Dgenetics Musics label, he provides unique and original compositions aptly described by the Editor of Spin Magazine as “either the best thing I’ve ever heard….or the cheesiest.” As a DJ, he’s a one man party in a box waiting to be unleashed. Pumpkin Patch finds the hottest disco and electro tracks, the most celebrated Top 40 Dance and Hip Pop tracks, the nastiest ghettotech and sleazehop vocals and the bootiest booty-bass beats, then mashes it all up into seamless and musical mixes.

Born in Berkeley, CA, raised in Durham, NC, matured in NYC and now residing in LA. He was a hip hop head as a teenager, had a religious rebirth, was photographed by Terry Richardson during his brief stint as a model, and is now ready to be a pop superstar. You have to stay on your toes with this guy. Not one to mince words, Old Gold’s lyrics often get straight to the point, while his music enslaves your mind with its candied synths and infectious grooves. Old Gold could be the new Phil Collins or the new Rod Stewart or the new Lou Reed. Expect the debut full-length album from Old Gold later this year.

As a producer, Dgenetics strives to identify the personality of a song and to highlight the interplay among its various elements. Stylistically, he sits comfortably between Giorgio Moroder and the RZA.
Dgenerate Nation is Dgenetics’ pet project, featuring guest vocalists over his musical productions. When Dgenetics Musics first released the Bull City album digitally through Amie Street in the US and Pure Groove in the UK, it quickly found itself as one of the Top 25 albums of 2007 on Amie Street - alongside Justice and DataRock, and ranked ahead of releases from Kid Sister and Felix Da Housecat.
