‘One of 2008’s most exciting and loudest bands’ – NME

‘MGMT will help you tune in’ – Guardian

MGMT
release their much-anticipated debut single, ‘Time To Pretend’ in the UK on 25th February.

Having taken CMJ by storm in October, MGMT are one of the bands of the moment, encapsulating a shift toward intelligent, epic music, of which ‘Time To Pretend’ is the first marker.

‘Time To Pretend’ is the sound off a band taking off and leaving everyone else in their vapour trail. Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, for they are MGMT, have described their sound as ‘Future 70s’. There is an ambition to ‘Time To Pretend’, as if everything out there is there for the taking.

Inspired by duos, the MGMT have absorbed the sounds of the likes of Chrome, Suicide, Spacemen 3 and Hall And Oates on their journey to where they are today.

MGMT are the antidote, the saviours, bringing their accessible, universal sound to bear on a world in need of a kick. There’s huge swathes of Technicolour as they absorb the limitless possibilities out there, the sort of possibilities very few can really grasp.

Look out for the band when they return to the UK for a handful of dates across the country in February and March.

Tour dates -

26th Feb - London, KOKO – NME Awards show
28th Feb - Nottingham, The Bodega
29th Feb - Glasgow, The Beat Club

1st March - Manchester, Night And Day
3rd March - Birmingham, Bar Academy
4th March - Brighton, Pressure Point
5th March - London, ICA
