SOFT FOCUS UK - BLUR'S GRAHAM COXON - 4 PART SERIES AIRING THIS WEEK ON VBS.tv Back in the mid-90s, for lack of anything interesting to write about Morrissey or the Manic Street Preachers, the NME came up with Britpop and pretended there was a huge battle going down in the scene between Oasis and Blur. Most people think Oasis won, because every radio station in the world played “Wonderwall” about 20 times a day for the next three years. But Blur were the real winners—in one sense because the actual battle revolved around a pair of singles of which theirs sold the most—but in another sense because they were about a million times better as a band. So when going over dream interviewees that we wanted to chat with while crashing London, Graham Coxon was an obvious choice of hero. Soft Focus UK - Graham Coxon Part 1 of 4 - VBS.TV In this edition of Soft Focus, Ian talks with the former Blur guitarist about why Brits write off American bands as lazy while local bands who fade into the woodwork onstage get a free pass. Part 2 of 4 - VBS.TV In the second part of their conversation, Graham discusses his mixed feelings at being dragged through the whole Blur Vs. Oasis media circus. Part 3 of 4 - VBS.TV In this third part Mr. Coxon describes being a Pisces alcoholic and we learn "refutation" is a good word. Part 4 runs tomorrow on www.VBS.tv |
