“unpretentious, straight forward, hook laden rock… The band's uncontrived, shtick-less sonic was warmly welcomed.” – SPIN Magazine “Despite hints of early '90s pop-punk, Morning State's sound is fresher and less urgent than its influences.” – Paste Magazine “one of Atlanta's most promising young bands” – Atlanta Journal Constitution Following a stellar run of shows with Nashville pals De Novo Dahl, Morning State is back in hometown Atlanta for a few days before heading back out on the road for dates leading up to SXSW. Today, the band released the first single from its upcoming full-length You Know People I Know People. To hear “Oh Yeah”, go here: http://www.indieoutlaw.com/mp3s/morningstate-ohyeah.mp3 If that’s not enough for you, WRAS 88.5 in Athens and Ohmpark.com just released two exclusive acoustic recordings of a recent in-studio session with Morning State. Included are “Oh Yeah” and “Out For A Walk” from the upcoming album. Head here to check that out: Ohmpark: **Exclusive** Morning State - Live at Album 88 Morning State will be playing several shows at the annual SXSW music conference in Austin and heading out to start the first leg of a national tour in April, including dates with XYZ Affair and Jukebox the Ghost in May. More dates will be added in the coming weeks. The band has announced that it will release You Know People I Know People on May 3rd, 2008. Backstory: Morning State signed to a label last fall and recorded You Know People I Know People. They then headed to the CMJ Music Marathon for several performances, including a VIP late night party with Pitchfork wunderband Black Kids, and Peter and Bjorn (of PB & J, of course!). Shortly after returning home, the band learned that its label had collapsed and was seeking a good bit money for the master rights to the recordings. With this, the band quickly terminated its ties with the label and decided to re-record the album with close friend Asa Leffert (The Whigs, Dark Meat, The Pendletons) at DARC in Athens, GA. The album was re-recorded in about 10 days.
