It’s not too often these days that an indie band cracks Billboard’s Top 200 chart. Well, everybody’s favorite Baltimore duo Beach House did it last week, making its debut on the chart at #195. The band also grabbed the #5 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Wow!
The band is currently on tour with Papercuts, and though they’ve only been on the road a couple weeks, most venues have been near-full—not terribly surprising to anyone who reads a newspaper or blog every now and then. In the past couple of weeks, the band grabbed the coveted ‘Best New Music’ title from Pitchfork, landed Rolling Stone’s “Breaking” feature, enjoyed ‘Song of the Day’ status on NPR, and were Paste Magazine’s ‘Band of the Week’.
