Lost Beatles Album

"Jammin' with The Beatles and Friends, Star Club, Hamburg, 1962" the lost live Beatles album you may never hear.

This story presents an interesting ethical dilemma. Apparently, there are old live recordings of The Beatles that no one has ever heard. This guy named Hugo Cancio is holding on to some rare material and he wants to release it to the world. Of course he has been working closely with Apple Corps Ltd., The Beatles' company formed to protect their legacy.

The trouble is, Apple Corps is now filing lawsuits and hitting the press circuit to get this injustice into the public dialog. Only issue is that Mr. Cancio claims that up until this point, Apple had been happy to work with him, saying he was surprised but the new version of events which attempts to dimish the recordings value with lies about poor recording quality. He also says he has yet to be served with any kind of papers and doesn't think they will actually come.

Ok, clearly Apple Corps would be interested in releasing these recordings without the involvement of Mr. Cancio, and I assume he has turned down an offer to purchase the recordings off of him. Mr. Cancio obviously knows what the recordings are really worth and would want to keep getting a piece as long as possible. No surprise there. Apple was probable kissing this guys ass saying they were going to work together in hopes that he would sell, and when he didn't, they changed the deal. They want it all or it isn't getting released.

Who is in the right? Should Mr. Cancio fight back legally to gain control of the recording and distribution rights? Or should Apple sue his pants off, obtain the recording and release it themselves? Or maybe the recordings should never see the light of day, either by corporate force or physical destruction?
