Following the overwhelming popularity of Dan y Cownter (Under the Counter) and Dan y Cownter 2 - two previously released CDs featuring the best and latest music from Wales, distributed for free in order to promote Welsh language music; Welsh Music Foundation is proud to announce that a brand new website will soon be launched for the third edition in the series: Dan Y Cownter 3.

The website will offer ten Welsh Language tracks available for free download and, in a further digital move, the 16 page booklet that was included with its predecessors will also be hosted on the website, packed with information detailing businesses and organisations working within the Welsh music scene including record labels, festivals, regular gigs, websites and fanzines.
Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1 and Radio Cymru C2 DJ will help to draw up a shortlist and youth groups from Wales will then choose which tracks to include on the website.
Huw said: "I'm pleased that Dan y Cownter is continuing with the good work of promoting Welsh language music - straight to your MP3 player or ipod this time!"
This will be a golden chance to hear some of the best new Welsh-language Music - via the latest technology. The aim is to increase the use of Welsh-language Music on the web, as well as having the latest information about the Welsh language music industry on the web, in one place.
The website will be launched on the Welsh Language Board's stand at the Urdd Eisteddfod, Conwy, at the end of May 2008.

Labels, publishers and musicians should submit their Welsh language tracks to WMF for a chance to be amongst the songs included.

Tracks should be sent - on CD format only to:
Dan y Cownter 3
Welsh Music Foundation
33 West Bute Street
Cardiff
CF10 5LH

Deadline: Friday April 21st, 12 Midday. No tracks will be accepted after this deadline.
Contact details, songwriter, label and publisher details are to be included with each CD submission. A full list of criteria can be viewed at Dan Y Cownter 3.
