The Subways are poised for a sensational return this year when they release their second album ‘All Or Nothing’ on June 16th. The album, produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth), will be preceded by the singles ‘Girls And Boys’ (March 25th - download only) and ‘Alright’ (June 2nd) as well as 2 nationwide tours of intimate club venues. Exclusive new dates below!
In early 2007, Billy, the Welwyn Garden City trio's, lead singer was forced to brave surgery on his vocal chords - An event which placed the band's very existence into doubt. Lunn, thankfully given the all-clear after a long lay-off, spent the rest of the year with The Subways reenergized, refocussed and ready to produce their finest work to date in the form of the planned summer release of much-anticipated follow-up album "ALL OR NOTHING".
Recorded in Los Angeles, the twelve-track album marks a tremendous progression for the band since the ‘Young For Eternity’ debut. Freshly inspired by bands including Death Cab For Cutie and Refused, the result is an album that recalls the exuberance of ‘Young For Eternity’ while embarking upon an adventurous sonic progression. The vehement opening riff of single ‘Girls And Boys’ is a bold reintroduction to the band and is followed by the dynamic ‘Kalifornia’ that contrasts the band’s most vitriolic moment to date with an infectious, summery hook.
Track 'Girls And Boys’ will be available free to download at www.subways.net from March 25th. The download will then be available from selected websites on March 31st.
Single, ‘Alright’, will receive a full release on June 2nd.
Other highlights of ‘All Or Nothing’ include the breezy, retro-pop of the title-track, the raw power of live favourites ‘Shake Shake’ and 'I Won't Let You Down' as well as the sun-kissed vocal harmonies of ‘Alright’ and the instantly infectious melodies on 'Strawberry Blonde'.
‘Young For Eternity’ was released in 2005 and soon established The Subways in the live arena, proving to be enduring festival favourites at Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury and selling out almost every headline show that they played. Dave Grohl, Liam Gallagher and Paul Weller soon became prominent fans – Grohl and Gallagher personally asked The Subways to support the Foo Fighters and Oasis respectively.
And it wasn’t just here that The Subways were making waves. They became a regular fixture on American TV with performances on David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. An arena tour as guests to Taking Back Sunday also proved to be a particular highlight for the band playing 10,000 plus crowds across the states. Dates in Australia and Japan also offered evidence of their growing international reputation.
The Subways will play their first UK shows since the summer of 2006. March/ April SOLD OUT Please turn over for the full tour dates.
