“In a genre where a lot of bands take themselves too seriously (or at least appear to do so), Jukebox breaks down any sense of pretension with their quirky, fun banter and sound.” - CMJ
“HAPPY SOUNDS: And while we’re unsolicitedly plugging things we enjoy, might as well mention that the Jukebox the Ghost’s LP is now available on iTunes. The music of The Beatles, on the other hand? Still not on iTunes. Henceforth, Jukebox is more in demand than The Beatles.” – Vh1, Best Week Ever
Just one short week after Jukebox the Ghost’s release of “Let Live And Let Ghosts,” the band has begun to see a flood of attention come their way, grabbing features with iTunes, Vh1’s Best Week Ever, CMJ, and more!
Our friends over at Wings For Wheels podcast have even dedicated an entire episode to Jukebox the Ghost with a full interview and discussion of the release here:
» Episode 49: Jukebox The Ghost Wings For Wheels: The website and blog for Dave Lifton and the Wings For Wheels Podcast.
In addition, Jukebox the Ghost still has a handful of tour dates remaining, including their headlining show at Mercury Lounge in NYC on May 10th with XYZ Affair and Morning State! See below for full remaining dates.
Jukebox the Ghost, whose infectious energy has been known to captivate many an audience, will be playing tracks from their debut album Let Live and Let Ghosts (Rebel Group/This Side Up), in stores April 22 2008. Jukebox the Ghost have already been on the road for much of the year, and the new dates will follow a successful SXSW with shows alongside such artists as Georgie James, A Place to Bury Strangers and Shout Out Louds.
Let Live and Let Ghost showcases the trio’s inventive songwriting. Classically-trained pianist, Ben Thornwell (piano/vocals/keys) has a knack for wordplay, while guitarist and co-vocalist Tommy Siegel's quirky lyrics shine on the three part musical narrative "Fire in the Sky"/"Where Are All the Scientists Now"/"A Matter of Time,” as he pokes fun at the concept of a looming apocalypse. A unique aspect of Jukebox the Ghost’s songs is the absence of a bass line, but drummer Jesse Kristin holds down the rhythm section and keeps audience’s toes tapping.
