Legal Troubles
5 big stories...just TODAY May 9, 2008, 10:01 PM
Rapper DMX (pictured) was arrested last night on drug and animal-cruelty charges following a raid of his home. The indictment stems from an August search of the rapper's home prompted by reports of dogs being abused on his property. Detectives seized 12 pit bull dogs, dug up remains of three others and found marijuana on the rural property. During Friday's raid, officials said more drugs were found and weapons seized and additional charges were possible
Hulk Hogan's son, Nick Bollea, was sentenced to 8 months in jail and 5 years probation following a serious accident last August. Nick was street racing with a friend when his car lost control and slammed into a tree, leaving his friend in need of medical care for the rest of his life. Nick was uninjured but will lose his driving privileges for 3 years.
Jury selection started today for R. Kelly's child pornography case. He is accused of having sex with girls as young as 13 years old on camera. He also peed on a 15 year old, but I don't know if that has anything to do with this case.
Rapper Foxy Brown has pleaded guilty today to menacing a neighbor with her cell phone last year. She avoided jail based on time already served. She spent 7 months in jail following a fight with a manicurist in a nail salon in New York.
A judge has reinstated a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the family of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G., reversing an earlier decision to dismiss the case. The first lawsuit, filed in 2002, alleges wrongful death and civil rights violations. It ended in a mistrial in 2005. The case remains active, with the judge allowing the family to amend the lawsuit because of newly discovered evidence. The latest ruling involved the secondary lawsuit, which contends that rogue police officers conspired to kill Wallace and that the Police Department covered up their involvement.
