Frank Turner - New single Following the recent successes of second album ‘Love Ire & Song’ which reached Number 5 in the UK Indie Chart in March; Frank Turner announces details of his forthcoming single ‘Reasons Not To Be An Idiot’. Out on 23rd June through Xtra Mile Recordings, ‘Reasons Not To Be An Idiot’ is a foot-tappingly catchy and joyous ol’sing-a-long that is uplifting, inspiring and more importantly rocks face. A definite live favourite, the song was welcomed like a long lost friend by the heaving crowds on his recent sold out UK tour. At the heavier, rockier end of the folk spectrum, ‘Reasons…’ illustrates Frank’s incredible song-writing ability and mass cross-over appeal. It’s a crossover appeal further illustrated by the fact that not only will Frank be supporting pals The Holloways on their tour of the nation’s universities throughout May but this summer Frank will be playing a truck load of music festivals including 2 sets at this year’s Glastonbury and must be the only artist confirmed for both the Cambridge Folk Festival and the Lock-Up Stage at Reading and Leeds. Frank and his band have developed into a formidable live force performing passionate and intense shows. All forthcoming gigs are listed below. Genre-defiant and winning over fans and followers all over the world – Frank’s gradual approach to superstardom is gathering speed! "I think Frank Turner will turn out to be one of the best singer songwriters of our generation." Mike Davies Radio 1 (22nd January 2008) "Both uplifting and heartbreaking, these 12 tracks are the sound of Turner sitting down, taking stock and edging steadily further towards greatness. Godspeed, sir." KKKK Kerrang! “Frank is truly a unique British talent to be cherished and acclaimed with good reason.” 8/10 Rocksound “Frank’s second album is as defiantly brilliant as ever.” NME 8/10 THE HOLLOWAYS MAY UK TOUR 5 Old Fire Station, Bournemouth 6 Student Union 3sixty, Reading 7 The Waterfront, Norwich 8 Hertfordshire Uni SU, Hatfield 10 The Foundry, Sheffield 11 53 Degrees, Preston 12 Strathclyde Students Union, Glasgow 13 Uni Stanley Theatre, Liverpool 15 University Union Mine, Leeds 16 University Union Asylum, Hull 18 Brunel Students Union, Uxbridge Summer appearances are: 3 June - Party On The Pier, Southsea 7 June – Jam By The Lake, Durham University 13 June - Rock Against Racism at Brighton's Komedia - Glastonbury warm-up 19 June - London Calling 21 June - Fete De La Musique @ Mécanique Ondulatoire, Paris, France 22 June - JH de Choke, Herselt, Belgium 26 June - Locaux Scouts, Ecaussinnes, Belgium 26 - 29 June - Avalon Stage, and Rock Against Racism on the Left Field Stage at GLASTONBURY 29 June - Boring By The Sea, Weymouth 1 July - Le Tapas, Nice, France 3 July - Peniche Trempée, Toulouse, France 11 July – 2000 Tress Festival – solo show 12 July - 2000 Trees Festival – band show 25 July - Perfect Day Festival 31 July – Cambridge Folk Festival 1 August - Y-Not Festival, Derbyshire 17 August - Beautiful Day Festival, Devon 22 August – Reading Festival (Lock Up Stage) 23 August – Leeds Festival (Lock Up Stage) www.frank-turner.com & MySpace.com - Frank Turner - UK - Folk / Punk / Country - www.myspace.com/frankturner |
