I. Son Ambulance announces Someone Else's Déjà Vu; Summer tour dates set.

Son Ambulance will release their third full-length, Someone Else's Déjà Vu CD/2LP/Digital on July 8. Pre-orders will begin on May 27 and will ship from here on June 24, a full two weeks before the record hits stores!
The first batch of Summer tour dates has also been announced. A full list of confirmed shows is below. Stay tuned for more info on Someone Else's Déjà Vu and Son Ambulance!

Son Ambulance - Someone Else's Déjà Vu CD/2LP/Digital
After more than three years since their last release, Son Ambulance emerges from hibernation deep in a realm of exotic 60s and 70s LPs for their third full-length, Someone Else's Déjà Vu, a bold leap back into the music world and the band's most challenging work yet. Primarily a Joseph Knapp solo effort, collaborating closely with former/current member Jeffrey Koster, Someone Else's Déjà Vu marks a departure from 2005's Key, offers a sharper glimpse into Knapp's distinct song-writing abilities, and reflects a depth of complexity and dream logic made perfect for a sublime musical experience capable of engaging many new listeners of any age.

Collectively, the songs form a cohesive palette of subtle pop psychedelia encompassing myriad musical genres. "A Girl from New York City" starts off the album a bustling, fast-paced samba with serene, melodic vocals à la Marcos Valle and tumbles into a street carnival of whistle and voice cuica leads. "Legend of Lizeth" slides right into another world, equal parts Pink Floyd and Tommy James with a five-part a cappella break. Elsewhere on Someone Else's Déjà Vu, tracks make use of rich analog synths, double bass, saxophone and vibraphone, played by various Omaha musicians including members of Tilly and the Wall and The Faint.

A refreshing pastoral familiarity, think of Someone Else's Déjà Vu as great accompaniment to a day where your only responsibilities might include reading a book, petting your cat or thinking of an old friend.

Neva Dinova - You May Already Be Dreaming CD/LP/Digital
It’s beyond fitting that Neva Dinova has found a new home at Saddle Creek. You May Already Be Dreaming, the band’s third full-length and first since 2005’s The Hate Yourself Change (Crank/Sidecho) is a lush, largely electric affair rich with the rural textures that pepper releases from the band’s Omaha contemporaries. Having been a staple in the scene since guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Jake Bellows and bassist Heath Koontz began collaborating in the early nineties, Neva Dinova (named after Bellows’ grandmother) have continually evolved their melancholic sound, making masterful use of counterbalanced melodies and poetic lyricism.

Bellows began composing songs for You May Already Be Dreaming two years ago, but he and the band (including Good Life drummer Roger Lewis) were fated to overcome a number of obstacles before the recording process would even begin. First, Bellows realized that he wanted to re-work a number of song ideas on his own—following that arduous but exciting process, the band experienced a flood that destroyed portions of their equipment. If that wasn’t enough, Bellows unfortunately found himself in a self-described “barroom tussle” that resulted in the complete and tragic blowout of his left eardrum. Fortunately, he and his ear recovered fully, and Neva Dinova was able to resume recording.

From the spacious guitar washes of “A Man and His Dream” to the sweeping, dusty strength of “Clouds”, this is the band’s most fluid and realized effort to date. You May Already Be Dreaming was self-recorded in the corner of a friend’s warehouse space in Omaha, NE, and later mixed with the help of Ian Aiello at Presto!, Mike Mogis’ recording studio, in the fall of 2007.

Tokyo Police Club -
Elephant Shell CD/LP/Digital
Following one of the most well-received 16 minutes of music in recent history (2006's A Lesson In Crime EP), Newmarket, Ontario's Tokyo Police Club confirms the release of its debut album Elephant Shell, due out April 22 on Saddle Creek.

Elephant Shell lands roughly a year and half after A Lesson In Crime (with last year's Smith EP and "Your English Is Good" digi-single bridging the gap), which has sold over 30,000 copies and garnered accolades from Entertainment Weekly ("We can hardly wait for the full length" A-), Rolling Stone ("If only all young guitar bands were smart enough to rock out this fast, banging out seven first-rate mod-punk party starters in barely more than sixteen minutes"), Interview, Blender, Nylon and The New York Times among others.

Tokyo Police Club was formed in 2005 by David Monks (vocals, bass), Josh Hook (guitar), Graham Wright (keyboards), and Greg Alsop (drums). Elephant Shell is the sound of these four early-20-somethings, now seasoned by hundreds of shows from tiny clubs to the festival throngs at Coachella and Glastonbury, delivering on every bit of promise in their rapid-fire barrage of material to date. The opening one-two of "Centennial" and "In A Cave" barely evaporates before "Graves" and "Juno" pack innumerable hooks and "what-does-that-remind-me-of" glimmers into meager 2-minute-and-change frameworks, while first single "Tessellate" and "Sixties Remake" encapsulate everything great about the manic TPC live experience: soaring guitar signatures and keyboard figures, driving backbeats and irresistible singalongs abound. Elsewhere, "The Harrowing Adventures Of..." and the down-tempo standout "Listen To The Math" find our young protagonists ably adapting their energy into more subdued structures before the rousing coda of "The Baskervilles" brings the record to an all-too-early halt.
