Attic Lights New single
Bring You Down. June 30th 2008 May 22, 2008, 06:40 PM ‘Rapturous melodic joy’ – The Guardian ‘Intoxicating’ – NME ‘Blasphemous trash’ – The Free Church Of Scotland The devil may have the best tunes but gun totin’ Phil Spector has the best beats. And Attic Lights know it. Just listen to the ‘dum–dum–dum–crash’ drums on Bring It Down, a rollicking rollercoaster ride of perfect heart-stopping guitar / rock perfection released on Island Records on June 30th 2008.
The single will be available on CD and 7” and will include Annie, Beautiful Girls (Sean Kingston cover) & Bring You Down (Mogwai Mix) on the CD and Bring You Down (Jim Noir Mix) on the 7”.
The single follows their debut, Never Get Sick Of The Sea, which was released in early 2008 and its follow up. God; the appropriated ‘religious’ iconography used in both the video and attendant press ads for the single caused something of a controversy in their native Scotland.
The single is lifted from their soon to be released debut album, Friday Night Lights. Recorded in Glasgow in the Autumn of 2007 with Francis McDonald of Teenage Fanclub in the production seat, the album also features strings arrangements courtesy of Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John fame. A joyous affair full of soaring harmonies and west-coast melodies, the album, to be released in the Autumn, perfectly reflects their love of The Beach Boys, Go-Betweens and Flaming Lips.
Having toured extensively in the early part of 2008, including a number of co-headline shows alongside a support slot on the Scouting For Girls tour, the band have a number of shows confirmed over the summer, including a couple of festival appearances. The full list of dates are as follows: MAY
