Single‘No Girls Allowed’ July 28th through Smalltown Records
Data Select Party, the London-via-Eastbourne quartet, are releasing their infectious new single ‘No Girls Allowed’ via Smalltown Records on July 21. The band will be preceding this release with a UK tour supporting I Was a Cub Scout in June, London date June 5th at Dingwalls in Camden.
Coming across like the best bits of a classic John Hughes80’s movie soundtrack via the last days of disco crashing into the most ambitious, catchy post punk singles collection ever. Basically the best, most fun party you were never invited to but heard about on the grapevine and always pretended that you were at to make yourself sound cooler and more complete.
Combining a love of hardcore punk rock and classic bar tunes, DSP have been plying their sun blessed, addictive and offbeat pop melodies, intricate geek fretwork, gang vocals, time signature changes and disco punk rock across the UK for the last 12 months. They have already recorded a session for Steve Lamacq’s Radio One show, supported and toured with the likes of New Young Pony Club, OK GO, I Was A Cub Scout, Rolo Tomassi, Tellison and Furthest Drive Home.
Data Select Party formed after singer Dan left his previous band.
"The guitarist of Dan's band was f*****g his girlfriend so he and the drummer started a new project and James practised next door on the farm," says bass player Hugo Edwards. “Things were going great so we dropped everything and moved to London, in search of gold paved streets and musical nirvana only to find a bunch of neon dickheads wearing s**t sunglasses. We were gutted.”
Since then they've ruined graduation balls, generated huge amount of T-shirt debt, bought a van with no brakes and generally excited thousands of impressionable young teens. ‘No Girls Allowed’ will be released via limited 7" vinyl and digital download and will be followed later this year with a six track mini album, further major support tours and UK headline shows.
