Morning State Releases New Track, Gains Critical Acclaim For New Album

Morning State Releases New Track, Gains Critical Acclaim For New Album
“Morning State simply know what works.” – SPIN Magazine

“solid, no frills alt. rock… high energy and hooky guitar riffs.” – Austinist

“There’s already buzz surrounding Morning State’s debut album… has a retro ’90s feel, but since when is that a bad thing?” – E! News

“Morning State’s ‘You Know People…’ is a rarity: an album that re-identifies itself to you with each listen.” – Metromix (4/5 Stars)

“Morning State is one of those sloppy noise rock bands that start out taking you somewhere you've already been, but drop you off somewhere you've never been before. Which is to say they are entirely refreshing… You Know People I Know People is one of the unsung shredders of the year, in what has already been a stellar year for rock releases.” – Wired Magazine

Atlanta’s Morning State is releasing another tune from its debut full-length You Know People I Know People. “That’s Quite A Rash” is a dynamic rock tune that showcases the band’s ability to cut loose and take its sound to a deafening extreme. Check it out HERE.

Following sets in packed out rooms in New York, Chicago, and throughout the southeast, the band is taking a short rest. More tour dates are expected to be added soon, and the band has already announced some festival shows including two sets at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville opening for Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s and Dr. Dog, the popular Athens, GA Athfest celebration with pals Dark Meat, Atlanta’s increasingly popular Corndogorama, and many more.

Several outlets have gotten behind the album in the past month. Austinist ran a fantastic piece on the release and E! News even got in the action with a story HERE. Stereo Subversion interviewed the band to get the rundown on re-recording the entire album, which you can check out HERE. The guys also spent some time with Fearless Radio in Chicago before their sold out Schubas show with White Rabbits, which you can check out HERE.

Backstory:
Morning State signed to a label last fall and recorded You Know People I Know People. The band then headed to the CMJ Music Marathon for several performances, including a VIP late night party with Pitchfork wunderband Black Kids, and Peter and Bjorn (of PB & J, of course!). Shortly after returning home, the band learned that its label had collapsed and was seeking money for the master rights to the recordings. With this, the band quickly terminated its ties with the label and decided to re-record the album with close friend Asa Leffer (The Whigs, Dark Meat, The Pendletons) at DARC in Athens, GA. The album was re-recorded in about 11 days.
