Seth Lakeman, the west country born singer and songwriter credited with bringing folk music to a whole new audience, has announced he is playing a one-off album launch gig in Cornwall on June 25th, with all profits going to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
The follow up to 2006’s gold selling ‘Freedom Fields’, Seth’s new album, ‘Poor Man’s Heaven’, is released on the Relentless label on June 30th. The album has a strong coastal lyrical theme throughout, with one of it’s pivotal tracks, ‘Solomon Browne’, recounting the real-life story of the ill-fated Penlee lifeboat of the same name, which was lost in 1981 while trying to rescue the crew of the shipwrecked Union Star coaster.
Seth comments of the forthcoming gig:
The gig will take place in the idyllic beach side setting of The Watering Hole venue on Perranporth beach. Dave Nicoll, RNLI Area Fundraising Manager For Cornwall says:

Seth comments of the forthcoming gig:
“I wanted to try to do something positive in launching the “Poor Man’s Heaven” album, rather than just another gig - and raising money for the RNLI felt appropriate as the new album has such a strong coastal theme. Hopefully it’ll be a great gig and we’ll raise some funds for this fantastic charity”
The gig will take place in the idyllic beach side setting of The Watering Hole venue on Perranporth beach. Dave Nicoll, RNLI Area Fundraising Manager For Cornwall says:
'We are delighted Seth has chosen the RNLI to be the recipient charity of his concert being held to launch his new album. Seth's poignant song about the loss of the Solomon Browne brings home the selfless but vital, lifesaving work the RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews and RNLI lifeguards do around the coast.
The funds raised from this concert will go towards the training of RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews at 35 lifeboat stations and RNLI lifeguards on 88 beaches, in the South West. Seth's choice of venue, on Perranporth beach, is significant as one of the most popular RNLI lifeguarded beaches.'
