King Black Acid and the Sacred Heart King Black Acid and the Sacred Heart w/ special guests The UpsideDown and New York Rifles. Saturday July 19th @Doug Fir Daniel Riddle's King Black Acid is set to unveil yet another sonic exploration. This time taking us closer even still to the core of what the band calls "the dream life of the song". Riddle has assembled a group of players known as the "Sacred Heart". Jeff Trapp on guitars (Everclear, Pistols) Joseph Trump on drums (Pigface) Thom Rusnak on bass (Rorschach, Kiss It Goodbye) Rich Landar on keys (Telephone, Spirits Burning ie: members of Gong, Hawkwind, etc..) The songs are distilled, streamlined and super charged with energy. Shedding most of the lush atmospherics and hypnotic ambience of past KBA line ups for a sound that Riddle says is "Heavy Like a Chevy with more hooks than a f*cking pirate convention." Supporting the bill are Portland's own lush spacey popsters The UpsideDown. The band has just recently finished recording and mixing their new full-length album at The Dandy Warhols "Odditorium Studio". The record is due for release in 2008 on the Warhols new label, Beat The World Records. Also on the bill is another Portland gem known as the New York Rifles. This band is all about rocking the roots of late 70's early 80's punky power pop, no-wave rock and roll. Straight from the heart these songs are honest and catchy. The live show is awesome. Riddle's past credits include lead singer and founder of long time Portland avant tribal industrial group Hitting Birth. The group dominated the Northwest music scene from the late 80's to the early 90's with it's highly theatrical live shows that would pack out 1000 plus capacity venues to fanatical crowds that would dance as if they were members of an orgiastic war party. H.B. was featured in Rolling Stone magazine, Spin, Village Voice, etc.. They shared the stage with acts like Nirvana (Quoted as Kurt Kobain's favorite Portland band) Gwar, Neurosis, etc.. Riddle also took the past two years off from King Black Acid to write, record and perform with James Angell's Private Player. John Taylor on bass(Duran Duran) Tony Lash on Drums (Elliott Smith, Heatmiser) Daniel Riddle guitars and vocals, and Sean T. on guitar (KingBlackAcid, Stimulator) King Black Acid's list of credits include soundtrack work on such film and television shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI Miami, The Mothman Prophecies, Dream with Fishes, The Maker, Highway, Witchblade, MTV's Road Rules and Real World......among many others.
