Everyone is suing everyone lately. Some lawsuits are worthwhile. Some are pathetic attempts at making a quick buck. And yet some others are just power plays.
Here is a brand spanking new lawsuit surrounding the Americal Idol juggernaut. This time it's coming from the back up band.
The American Federation of Musicians has filed suit against Simon Cowell and the rest of the producers of the American Idol television show, alleging that the show underpaid the musicians who perform in the 'house band.'
Apparently the show isn't paying out for reruns. While the musicians are supposed to be paid to scale with 10% going to their union pension, the show is getting around having to pay out by RE-RECORDING THE MUSIC for the highlight shows and reruns.
What a bunch of d-bags.
