Catherine MacLellan Finishes Dates With Bruce Cockburn, Launches Canadian Tour

Fresh off tour with the legendary Bruce Cockburn, Canadian songstress Catherine MacLellan is quickly gaining notice for her heartfelt and honest brand of folk music. With a sweetly weathered voice that recalls that of a young Emmylou Harris or Patty Griffin, MacLellan could warm the coldest of Canadian nights. Her songwriting distinguishes itself—occasionally venturing into darker shades and always steeped in deep reflection.

MacLellan’s latest effort Church Bell Blues earns her a place at Harris and Griffin’s table. Tunes like “Emily’s Song”, which was featured in CMJ Music Network’s “Download This!” column last week, highlight MacLellan’s ability to tell a story in the most honest and sincere way possible. Church Bell Blues is completely void of pretension, and immediately refreshing.

“Church Bell Blues is a truly compelling record from a grand singer with a bright future on the horizon.” - Exclaim Magazine

Catherine MacLellan is a descendent of P.E.I. songwriting royalty...when you hear her velvet voice and personal, poetic lyrics, you’ll know she’s actually worthy of being called The Queen of Heartbreakin’ Country Folk.” - CBC Radio One
