Riding high on airplay charts across mainland Europe, OrangeCounty quartet Mêlée make their UK debut with the July 21st release of the single ‘BuiltToLast’ that will be released on WarnerBros. Records.
Equally crafted around piano-based melody, a raw rock edge and vocalist/pianist Chris Cron’s emotive, soulful vocals, ‘BuiltToLast’ was produced by HowardBenson (MyChemical Romance, HeadAutomatica). The single is taken from their second album and debut UK release ‘Devils& Angels’ that follows on July 28th.
‘Devils & Angels’ focuses on the band’s accomplished, songwriting, with including the soaring ballad ‘Can’tHoldOn’ and the sheer energy of ‘Frequently Baby (She’s a Teenage Maniac)’. The album also tackles lyrical themes as diverse Hurricane Katrina (‘RhythmofRain’), schizophrenia (‘Imitation’) and death (‘Can’tHoldOn’) alongside more common topics. The band’s songs are written by Cron and guitarist Ricky Sans, with bassist RyanMalloy and drummer MikeNader contributing to the arrangements.
Formed in Orange County, Mêlée debuted in 2003 with the ‘AgainstThe Tide’ EP for HopelessRecords. The following year saw the release of the band’s full-length debut ‘Everday Behavior’ on HopelessRecords/SubCity, drawing the attention of WarnerBros. Records with whom the band signed to in September2005.
Mêlée have since hit the Warped and TakeAction! tours, as well as performing with bands such as TheDonnas, Sugarcult, Motion CitySoundtrack, BowlingForSoup and Bayside.
