Luke Temple Releases New Two New Songs And Video, Gets Shout Out From Harlem Shakes

Luke Temple Releases New Two New Songs And Video, Gets Shout Out From Harlem Shakes
Brooklyn songwriter Luke Temple has released two new songs and a video from an upcoming yet-to-be-titled album that represents his most country-leaning effort to date. The debut of both the “More Than Muscle” video and new track “Everything’s Big” are available in the new issue of Take The Handle: Take The Handle. Brooklyn filmmaker Nat Johnson directed the video. Both the video and new song are also over at Luke’s MySpace: MySpace.com - luke temple - Brooklyn, New York - Other / Pop / Folk - www.myspace.com/luketemple
For those unfamiliar, Temple’s first album made a splash in the pop world attracting the praise of stalwarts Sufjan Stevens and Ben Gibbard, while his second full-length effort Snowbeast, released last fall, was lauded as one of the best experimental folk releases of the year. Temple also released a limited edition seven inch called “Brain” this past February, which experimented with acoustic ambient sounds. Now, Temple has written and recorded an impressive collection of country-tinged tunes.

With his third official release in less-than-a-year in the can, Luke Temple is still seeing critical praise for his previous releases. The Onion A.V. Club posted the first single “Saturday People” from last year’s Snowbeast for the third time last week saying, “I think this is now the third time I've posted this song on The A.V. Club…Here it is, the middle of 2008, and I'm still not sick of ‘Saturday People.’ So if you missed it the first two times, here it is again.” For the full post, go here: Popless Week 26: The Agenda-Setters | The A.V. Club

Popular NYC band The Harlem Shakes also had kind words for Temple last week, including the tune “Saturday People” in its New York Magazine summer playlist. Check that out here: Bonus Summer Playlist: Harlem Shakes Make You a Mix Tape -- Vulture -- Entertainment & Culture Blog -- New York Magazine

Luke Temple will be playing shows throughout the summer, and both fall UK and US tours are expected to be announced soon. For more information on Luke Temple, please contact ian.wheeler@themusebox.net

What People Are Saying:
“It’d be an understatement to say Luke Temple is just another dude strumming on New York’s stages. His pop-based folk songs are immaculately arranged and composed, utilizing organic, orchestral and electronic elements.” – Billboard

"a variety of romanticized and alienated imagery that's snatched straight from a time when squares were there to be looked at and made strange... Temple's various gifts amplify each other." - Pitchfork (7.4)

“Mr. Temple isn’t part of any particular school — not even that all-purpose new songwriters’ catchall, freak-folk — and his private world is fascinating.” – Jon Pareles, New York Times
