War Makes Heroes spent January in the studio with Nick McCabe the hugely influential guitarist from the Verve, described by many as the most innovative guitarist of his generation. After a chance meeting in a pub 5 years ago Nick has been hugely supportive of 'War Makes Heroes' and all previous incarnations. He had previously remixed a few tunes but it was only in January this year that he played on the records himself. His warm soundscapes and unique style compliment the cellos and organs; they blend together into a thick, rich wall of sound. 'Information Overload' can be found on the B-side and is a chance to hear the results of this brilliant collaboration for yourself.
The music hinges around the song writing of 'Charley Bickers' grandson to Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader whose life was immortalised in the classic film ‘Reach For The Sky’. Kenneth Moore’s moving portrayal of his triumph over adversity captured the hearts of the nation. This year marks the 25th anniversary since his death.
