Dirty Boots at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes presents -
Sparkadia, Skibunny, Public Service Announcers and The Tunics ALL LIVE Thursday 7th August
Dirty Boot’s, London’s best new live music club night, having already put on shows for Golden Silvers, White Denim (first UK show) and the first ever UK appearance of The Nightmarchers, is thrilled to this month bring you the fantastic Sparkadia. Unfortunately Cage The Elephant have had to withdraw from this months show as the singer has broken his leg! The wonderful Sparkadia are now the shows headliners, and over the moon we are at having them!!!!
SPARKADIA join us with their brand of gorgeous alt indie-pop. They are Aussie by birth but very much British by sound. Presently signed to the good guys at Ark Recordings (home to Alberta Cross and The Magic Wands) who as well as giving the world great music are also giving you a free download for your listening pleasure. For those of you who thought there was too much indie-rock at Dirty Boots, meet Belfast’s, SKIBUNNY. Sitting somewhere between The Orb and Fourtet they will bring their joyous brand of electronica to this months London show. If you won’t take my word for their quality then let me quote Rob da Bank (Radio One DJ and Bestival impresario) these guys are “absolutely wicked!”
Public Service Announcers take influence from diverse and slightly different musical backgrounds. Professing a love for bands like XTC, The Kinks and Blur to name a few mainstay eccentric English pop gems; they also share a love for soul, electronica and a healthy dose of hardcore punk. They formed together under the belief it was about time for a band blending these influences to turn in some classic upbeat pop, but more importantly for a band to come to the fore dedicated to writing good songs and not musical clique culture. “Intelligent, idiosyncratic pop,” said the person with the pad from Time Out.
First on are THE TUNICS who say proudly of their crowd that ‘the kind of people who come to our gigs are people who like music, rather than scenes’. Dirty Boots relishes that sort of attitude, so come along and give support to a band whose inclusive attitude and wild reputation have led Croydon council to try and ban their hometown gigs!
Plus DJ sets this month from HotBam WhiskeyFizzle and the Dirty Boots crew.
Dirty Boots takes place on Thursday 7th August from 7.30pm to 2am at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, basement of Tavistock Hotel, Bedford Way, Russell Square, London, WC1 (nearest Tube: Russell Square) - Tickets are £6 and £4 with a flyer.
