The Apples in stereo joined bud Stephen Colbert last night on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report” to support its latest release—a B-sides and rarities collection titled “Electronic Projects for Musicians”. The appearance marked the first time Colbert has invited a musical guest to return for an encore performance.
Colbert introduced the band as “friends of the show” saying, “I've been a fan of theirs since they were the Apples in mono.” The band performed the tune “Can You Feel It?” from last year’s critically acclaimed “New Magnetic Wonder” LP and also taped another song for eventual use - with a special guest that we can't reveal at this time.

Electronic Projects for Musicians contains the viral phenomenon “Stephen, Stephen,” a track written by Robert Schneider in honor of Stephen Colbert and performed on The Colbert Report's 2006 series finale. The band performed “Stephen, Stephen” (with Colbert providing tambourine accompaniment!) for the studio audience following the taping of the regular program.
