As UH HUH HER prepare for the August 19 release of their Nettwerk debut album COMMON REACTION, the duo have announced the world premiere of the video for their pulsating first single "Not A Love Song." It will air starting Monday, August 11 on mtvU and the LOGO Network. For the surreal video, the Los Angeles-based musical pair--singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist CAMILA GREY (Lead Vocal/Keys/Synth/Guitars/Programmed Drums)and musician/actress LEISHA HAILEY (Vocals/Synth)--joined forces with director Isaac Rentz of the production team Draw Pictures (Depeche Mode, The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, Mark Ronson). On air promo spots will direct fans to an early listening full album stream of COMMON REACTION on mtvU.com's"The Leak"as well as LOGOonline.com's "OutFirst." In addition, "Say So" has just been named the #1 artist song on Sountrack.MTV.com with UH HUH HER earning the #4 artist overall spot on the site. For COMMON REACTION, the duo tapped producer Al Clay (Pixies, Blur, Pink) for production duties, resulting in an 11-song offering that captivates the listener out of the gate. Check out a sampling of the early critical acclaim for COMMON REACTION: "Uh Huh Her's sleek, synth-infused sound is closer to Adore-era Smashing Pumpkins or Metric than it is to the moody English alt-rocker (PJ Harvey). The band's debut album,COMMON REACTION (out Aug. 19), is an electro-pop feast characterized by layers of overlapping vocals." --David Greenwald, LOS ANGELES TIMES (5/29) "COMMON REACTION," produced by Al Clay (Pixies, Pink, Blur), is catchy, synth-heavy dance music. --Charlotte Benbeniste, CMJ.COM (7/21) "... captivating and atmospheric electro-pop music..." --Lina Lecaro, LA WEEKLY (7/9) "Having named themselves after PJ Harvey's 2004 album Uh Huh Her, Los Angeles' Uh Huh Her channels just as much vulnerable desire as the revered English songstress. The dreamy electro-pop duo, made up of ex-Mellowdrone bassist/keyboardist Camila Grey and Leisha Hailey, one-half of the '90s alt-rock outfit the Murmurs, and an acclaimed actress on Showtime's 'The L Word,' create a lush soundscape of lilting piano arrangements, percolating electronic threads, and sparkling vocals a la Metric and the now-defunct Organ." "'Not A Love Song' is the first designated single off the record. Bridging the aural territory between indie rock and electronica, but with an infectious melody, hooky guitars and ethereal vocals, it's the kind of song that's likely to get them radio play and commercial success without eroding their indie-rock street cred. It walks that fine line well." --Margaret Coble, CURVE (July/August) "COMMON REACTION starts off with 'Not A Love Song' as dual harmonies collide behind crisp synthesizers, lulled bass loops and pumping grooves creating an electronic synth pop vibe. 'Explode' hums out at you with tons of feedback, high hats, tickling guitars and sultry lyrics perpetuating true sexuality." --Francis Petruzillio, CLEVELAND LEADER (7/18) "Named after a 2004 PJ Harvey album (and her obscure song of the same name), there's no confusing Uh Huh Her with its angry English progenitor. Instead, the duo's pulsing synth-rock is a much more approachable, hook-filled affair. For a debut album, Common Reaction maintains a surprisingly confident, consistent sound thanks to a wealth of rock experience: Leisha Hailey, who moonlights as 'Alice Pieszecki' on Showtime's The L Word, first rose to prominence in the New York duo The Murmurs in the early '90s. Likewise, lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Camila Grey used to hold down the low end for Mellowdrone. As Uh Huh Her, they seem to have found their kindred spirits: Highlights such as 'Dance with Me' and the title track find their voices blending like Sumatran coffee. Still, the angsty lyrics betray a tension hiding just beneath the synth-covered surface. Maybe there's some Harvey in them yet."
