Boston 4-piece Boys Like Girls is returning to the UK this October after stellar performances at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival and on their co-headline UK tour with Cute Is What We Aim For. This time, Boys Like Girls will be main support to Fall Out Boy on their three upcoming UK arena shows. These will see the band heading to Birmingham, Glasgow and London.

After years of playing in various bands throughout high school, Martin Johnson (lead vocals), Bryan Donahue (bass) and John Keefe (drums) solidified the BLG line-up with Paul DiGiovanni (lead guitar). They then posted demos online and an early version of The Great Escape and an acoustic spin on Thunder were the sparks that ignited a firestorm of attention on the band's MySpace and Purevolume pages.

Amongst those paying close attention were booking agent Matt Galle (Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance) and producer Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco) who felt Boys Like Girls' demos were something special. They contacted the band about working together and BLG were soon playing on the national Purevolume tour and writing the rest of the songs for their debut album. Once off tour, the band headed into the studio with Squire and the Boys Like Girls sound was formed.

“Matt puts a lot of heart into the music he works on, and he did with ours,” says Johnson. “He is really amazing at bringing stuff to another level sonically, tweaking things in just the right spots to make it perfect.”

Energetic, emotional and real, the album progresses through the lust-for-life urgency of Five Minutes To Midnight, to the energetic love anthem Hero/Heroine to more intense pop ballads Learning To Fall and Broken Man.

Boys Like Girls’ self-titled debut album is out now through Sony / BMG.
