The Kills, The Fratellis, Sara Bareilles Live From Abbey Road

The Kills, The Fratellis, Sara Bareilles Live From Abbey Road
Live From Abbey Road
Thursdays at 10:00pm EST

Episode 9 Premieres Thursday, August 14

The acclaimed Sundance series, Live From Abbey Road continues to feature performances and interviews with popular musicians but adds a cultural twist to episode 9. Kicking off the episode is rock duo, The Kills performing songs from their latest album, Midnight Boom. Vocalist, Alison Mosshart and guitarist, Jamie Hince combine their backgrounds to create an electronic groove with their first song, "Getting Down." The set continues with "Last Day of Magic," a song written by Hince during a time of loneliness and heartbreak. To wrap it up, the post-punk band says goodnight and reflects quietly on each other's love with "Goodnight Bad Morning." Each song highlights the use of the piano, drums and guitar in a more melancholy manner to give off that subdued, gentle sound founded by their British roots.

Sara Bareilles follows with the soft sounds of the piano while performing two songs off her latest album Little Voice. Currently on the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and #1 for the most downloaded albums after its debut, Little Voice has been certified gold by the RIAA. The American singer-songwriter keeps a running theme of the burden of love in her three piece set; opening with "Gravity," a song about the addiction of relationships followed by her platinum, hit single "Love Song" which continues to climb the pop charts. Coming in with a surprise ending, Sara Barielles will perform her version of the legendary Beatles song, "Oh Darling."

Scottish alternative rock band,
The Fratellis will conclude episode 9 by performing hits off their two albums, Costello Music and Here We Stand. First discovered in a Scotland bar, the band has now won awards for being the "Best British Breakthrough Act" and is soaring up the charts internationally and in the U.S. They will perform "Flathead," a hit off their debut album along with "Milk and Money" and "Mistress Mabel" from their second, self-produced album.

Each artist reflects his/her heritage through music whether it's a heartfelt ballad or an upbeat pop song. Episode 9 of
Live From Abbey Road unites the British, American, and Scottish cultures to create one beautiful sound.
